I was fortunate to have done my surgical training at the Mayo clinic, which is consistently ranked by physicians and healthcare institutions as providing the highest standard of patient care worldwide. Prominent figures and individuals from all walks of life came seeking the best treatments available. The same standard of care was given regardless of their backgrounds. I have tried to emulate this pattern in my practice of medicine and ophthalmology. Whether performing laser vision correction on another physician or seeing an uninsured accident victim in the middle of the night, the patient's well being is the absolute top priority. Spending a little extra time with the patient and providing the utmost attention to details can make the difference between a good and an outstanding outcome.

The decision to have vision correction surgery is both exciting and frightening for many people, but I have such confidence in these procedures I've personally treated my family members, my employees and many doctors that work closely with me. In turn, I believe that every patient deserves to be treated like family. I do not believe in assembly line medicine in which important responsibilities are delegated. I personally perform all critical preoperative, operative, and postoperative aspects of the LASIK procedure.

The excimer laser has indeed revolutionized the way we think about eyes and we are so fortunate to live in a time when freedom from optical devices is possible. Hearing a patient describe their new vision the day after surgery gives me tremendous satisfaction. The expression on their face says it all ... the freedom to see!
